Curses and how to break them!

by Johnny Ova on 01/23/12

Proverbs 26:2- “Like the sparrow in it’s fitting, like a swallow in its flying, So a curse without a cause does not come”.

The word Curse is translated from the Hebrew word “Arar” and it means to inflict with a curse. To be bound on the inside, to hem in with obstacles, to render powerless to resist.

Curses MUST be broken and can be! They can also be sent back to the one who sends them or causes you to do them.

“Scanning”- Demons scan a Christian and attacks the weaknesses but the ONLY way they can attack you is if you become in agreement (one) with them.

Regarding your salvation you are saved but that is just 50% of it. God wants you to live a fulfilled and blessed life while you are living! Ignorance of scripture and biblical principals in us, our parents, ancestors and churches has given satanic forces a field day.

There are 2 steps to get free from this process.

1)       Every contact must be confessed as sin to eliminate the ground of “unconfessed sin” as a legal hold for demonic bondage. We must find every single inch of demonic territory in one’s life and then take it back. Every demon within will become a thorn in our flesh and a constant irritation or handicap. God can and will forgive every occult contact (1 John 1:9).

2)       Notify Satan that you are closing every door that you may have opened to him through these contacts.

3)       Occult curses must be broken back at least 4 Generations on both sides of the family forward and back. If it is an open practice of witchcraft it must be broken back 25 Generations.

Repeat this- “I am closing any door I may have opened to you, Satan, through contact with the Ouija board, astrology, fortune telling, hypnosis, ESP, (list more if needed). I am closing the door against all these things I know about and all the things I don’t know about. I renounce you and all of your demons and I am closing every door I may have opened.”

If you suspect a curse when praying for someone say, “I break this curse in Jesus name. I break the curse back to 25 generations on both sides of the family and destroy every legal hold and every legal ground that the demons have to work in my (or other) life”

When we do this and stop this process growth, maturity, blessings, and victory will follow.

Prophetic Worship by Rachel Slionski

by Johnny Ova on 01/01/12

Prophetic Worship
God has given us all different types of spiritual gifts. The ability to teach, preach, sing, play an instrument, seer, draw, and prophecy. (Just to name a few)

Prophetic gifts: As we stated before, God imparts the gift of prophecy into the lives of His children and the prophetic gift can be used in many different ways. Most people relate prophecy automatically to words that are spoken to either confirm a past event or foretell a future event, most people don’t relate prophecy to singing, playing an instrument, seeing, or drawing spiritual things. Prophetic singing is one of those ways. What happens is the spirit of God takes over your voice and you begin to sing prophetically. So these aren’t words of a song, or something that was written down, it’s on the spot prophecy that is received through the Holy Spirit. It’s the same thing with instruments. Those who play instruments are able to prophecy through their instrument. This is shown a couple of times in scripture.

1 Samuel 10:5-6
“Afterward you will come to the hill of God where the Philistine garrison is; and it shall be as soon as you have come there to the city, that you will meet a group of prophets coming down from the high place with harp, tambourine, flute, and a lyre before them, and they will be prophesying. 6 Then the Spirit of the LORD will come upon you mightily, and you shall prophesy with them and be changed into another man.”(NASB)

Seer: one who sees prophetically spiritual activity and sees during worship

Hebrew 7200: ra’ah, raw-aw’; to see, look, view; to realize, know, consider; to be selected; to become visible, appear, show oneself; to be seen; to cause to see, show; to be shown; to look at each other, meet with; a general word for visual perception.
Hebrew 7203:
ro’eh, ro-eh’; a seer; vision.
Hebrew 2374:
Chozeh, kho-zeh’; seer, one who receives a communication from God, with a possible focus that the message had a visual component; agreement.
Hebrew 2372:
Chazah, khaw-zaw’; to see, to look, observe, gaze, by extension: to choose (one thing or another); to have visions, to prophesy.
-Drawing- there are also seers who draw what they are seeing, because sometimes it is hard to describe
-Visions- seers can also see things prophetically through visions and dreams
Genesis 37:5-8
“Joseph had a dream. When he told it to his brothers, they hated him even more. He said, ‘Listen to this dream I had. We were all out in the field gathering bundles of wheat. All of a sudden my bundle stood straight up and your bundles circled around it and bowed down to mine.’ His brothers said, ‘So! You're going to rule us? You're going to boss us around?’ And they hated him more than ever because of his dreams and the way he talked.”

Writing styles of the Bible. ***VERY IMPORTANT***

by Johnny Ova on 12/23/11

The Bible is not one “book,” it is a “library” of sixty-six books that were written over a period of more than a 1,500 years by many different authors. These authors were “inspired” in their thinking and writing by the Holy Spirit. Thus the Bible is the inspired Word of God without error. It also has the human “touch” from its authors. Paul is different than David, who is different than James or Moses. So their “style and personality comes out to us. This creates the marvelous depth and wonder of Scripture and of how God chooses to use us when He does not need to.

The Bible is Literature, as is any book filled with language. It has: Law, History, Wisdom, Poetry, Gospel, Epistles, Prophecy, and Apocalyptic Literature.

Law is “God's law,” they are the expressions of His sovereign will and character. The writings of Moses contain a lot of Law. God provided the Jews with many laws (619 or so). These laws defined the proper relationship with God to each others and the world (the alien): As well as worshipping God, governing the people, priestly duties, what to eat and not eat, how to build the temple, proper behavior, manners, and social interaction, etc. The Ten Commandments are often known as “The Law,” so are Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. In the NT, the Sermon on the Mount is considered law and the fulfillment of the law. Paul’s “calls” or precepts to the church are also law in their literature form.

Most Christians have a distorted view of the law and think it does not apply to us. Jesus repeated and affirmed the Ten Commandments and the Law of Moses. The law points to our depravity and need for a Savior. Without the law, there would be no relationship to God or need for Christ to save us. Christ fulfills the law and thus we are not bound to its curse, but we must acknowledge its role in our lives as the pointer to the Cross, and the mirror to our soul.

History. Almost every book contains history. Some books of the Bible are grouped together and commonly referred to as the “History Books” (Joshua, Kings & Chronicles). These books tell us the history of the Jewish people from the time of the Judges through the Persian Empire. In the NT, Acts contains some of the history of the early church, and the Gospels also have History as Jesus’ life is told as History. Even the Epistles have history as they chronicle events.

Wisdom Literature is focus on questions about the meaning of life (Job, Ecclesiastes), practical living, and common sense (Proverbs and some Psalms ). This literature contrasts our faulty human wisdom to God’s reasoning perfection. Thus when we live to our own will and not His, we will experience grief and frustration, not because God is vengeful and angry but because we led ourselves that way out of our pride and arrogance. This literature warns us of our evil nature and desires.

Poetry is found mostly in the Old Testament and is similar to modern poetry. Since it is a different language, “Hebrew,” the Bible’s poetry can be very different, because it does not translate into English very well. Poetry that we are used to is usually based on “rhythm” or various types of sound mixings such as our music. Hebrew poetry is based on “rhythm” of stanzas and phrases re-told differently, conveying the same ideas and meaning. Some Bible books are all poetry (Psalms, Song of Songs, and Lamentations), and some Books only have a few verses such as in Luke.

Gospel means the “good news” that we received through salvation by the work and life of God’s Son, Jesus Christ. When the Gospels were first written in the first century, it was a brand new form of literature. The four Gospels (Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John) contain a bit of all the literary types with the primary purpose to express faith in Christ and what He has done on our behalf. Each of the gospels present the teachings, ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus in a distinctive way, but not contradictory for a specific audience. Matthew was written to Jews, Luke to the Greeks, both with different ways of reasoning and thinking. Think of the Gospels like the facets of a diamond, giving more depth and meaning.

Epistles refer to the 21 letters in the NT. These are the personal letters by the apostles to their churches. These letters are different and similar to the letters of their time. Most challenge the congregation to wake up out of their selfish ways and to concentrate on Christ with specific ways and clarifications. They begin with the name of the writer and the recipient, a greeting, a reason for the letter, the central message or body of the letter, and then usually a closing, just like most letters today.

The epistles deal with concerns and false teaching that needed immediate correction. Some epistles were written in response to questions from the church, or for clarification to another letter, such as II Corinthians. We need to understand the cultural and historical situation to better understand what is going on, so we do not misunderstand what is being said in the scriptures.

Prophecy is the type of literature that is often associated with predicting the future; however, it is also God's words of “get with it” or else. Thus Prophecy also exposes sin and calls for repentance and obedience. It shows how God's law can be applied to specific problems and situations, such as the repeated warnings to the Jews before their captivity. This is found in the OT books of Isaiah through Malachi, the section of the Bible labeled “Prophecy” by both Jews and Christians. There are over 2000 predictions that have already come to pass. Prophecy has both an immediate call to a given situation, such as the “seven churches of Revelation,”. Prophecy in itself is used to edify and exhort the church. Prophecy is also used to bring peace and comfort with the truth of Christ!

Apocalyptic Writing is a more specific form of prophecy. Apocalyptic writing is a type of literature that warns us of future events for the specific audience which, full meaning, is hidden for the time being. Apocalyptic writing is almost a “secret” giving glimpses through the use of symbols and imagery of what is to come. This type of writing was very VERY common.

Why Matthew 24 can NOT be used as signs for a future coming!

by Johnny Ova on 12/16/11

I am writing this fully aware of this being a very controversial topic but the Truth needs to be written and spoken about. The problem today which makes it even harder for Christians to win the lost for Christ is because we quote things and do things as a whole that is just ridiculous and makes us look stupid. If we fail to read the Bible in context what happens is we begin to believe things that are just absolutely crazy! This topic today is one of the big ones we NEED to stop doing because anyone who reads Matthew 24 understands that it has nothing to do with futuristic “End Times” events so let’s break this down. I am going to be quoting the scriptures out of the NASB version so if you would like to follow along that would be great! So everyone open up your bibles and let’s follow along.

Let’s start with Matthew 23:37-39. Jesus was wrapping up a teaching, actually more of criticisms and warnings to Jerusalem, in a temple. He is telling them and warning them about something that will happen to them. (V38- “Behold, your house is being left to you desolate!”). Now Matthew 24 starts with Jesus walking out of the temple with his disciples.

1 Jesus came out from the temple and was going away [a]when His disciples came up to point out the temple buildings to Him. 2 And He said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, not one stone here will be left upon another, which will not be torn down.”

3 As He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the [b]end of the age?”

----------So now let’s take a glance at the first 3 verses. So they leave the temples and his disciples pointed to SPECIFIC temple buildings that they just walked out of and Jesus says not one of those buildings will be left standing. So they get to the Mount of Olives and it is here where his disciples say “when will these things happen, AND what will be the sign of your coming AND the end of the age?” What I have to point out here is that the disciples are asking when these buildings will fall and when he will come etc etc. The word “and” that is used in verse 3 is the greek word “Kai”. It means “And, Also, Even, Indeed”…It is a tie in word. The disciples are tying in the buildings falling and the signs of His coming and the end of the age, explaining that they all are going to happen at the same time! The word coming in verse 3 is “Parousia” which means “Coming, arrival, advent, visible” and the word “Age” is translated from the word “Aion” which means “End of a specific period of time” because of the tie in word “Kai”.  So Jesus is telling them when the specific buildings will fall and he then goes on to give the Apostles specific signs of when these temples in Jerusalem will fall!----------

4 And Jesus answered and said to them, “See to it that no one misleads you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the [c]Christ,’ and will mislead many.

---------- In Acts chapter 13 which was written a little after the book of Matthew there was a man named Bar-Jesus (A Jewish false prophet which directly translates into “Son of Jesus”)…who was around the disciples which why Jesus warned them to beware”-----------

6 You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end.

----------This was at a very crazy time. There was a lot of wars and rumors of wars. And kingdom against kingdom.  Rome and Jerusalem, Christian and Jew etc. In fact Rome completely leveled those temples that the disciples were pointing at in verse 1 in 70 AD.----------

7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes.

----------There was always earthquakes and famines throughout the whole Bible! Exodus 19:18, 1 Kings 19:11, Zechariah 14:5, Matthew 27:54, Matthew 28:2-4, Acts 16:26, Rev 6:12----------

8 But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs. 9 “Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name.

----------This is a big one. If this scripture is supposed to be used for future events for everyone then every Christian will be “Murdered”? That word die is translated from the word “Apokteino”, Which means to “literally destroy, extinguish, abolish, perish”. We can’t just pick parts that apply to us and throw out ones that don’t make sense. 12 out of the 13 Apostles were martyred for Christ. The 1 that is left out, his death is unknown.----------

11 Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many. 12 Because lawlessness is increased, [f]most people’s love will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.

---------- Again false prophets were rising like crazy prior to 70 AD. Paul wrote a LOT of his letters (epistles) to warn the churches about false prophets and to not be deceived. Verses 12 and 13 happen in every generation----------

14 This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole [g]world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.

---------- The word world here is translated from the word “Oikoumene” which means “Known inhabited earth, portion of earth inhabited by Greeks, roman empire”. Again, what does this have to do with us? If you take a look at where all of the Apostles went after 70 A.D…it was all over the known inhabited parts of the earth!----------

I am going to stop right here for now. There are plenty of verses for a lot of different things but we definitely need to stay away from Matthew chapter 24 when talking about the future coming of Jesus Christ.

Christian Literacy!

by Johnny Ova on 12/14/11

It is so funny yet so scary to me at times of how many Christians quote things they have NO IDEA with what they are quoting...and if you are to be honest we are ALL guilty of it sometimes. We have to be made aware of these things. Like for instance...when we read Paul's letter to 1 Corinthians...are we reading it as a letter from God or Paul directly to us or are we reading it as a letter Paul wrote to the church of Corinth back in 1st century Jerusalem? Or what about John 3:16....Who was talking to whom? What was the setting...why was this being said? How is this relevant for you?

I FULLY believe that if we can learn how to study the bible and read it in the context of which it was written then the revelation that we get from it for our lives will show us what God has been trying to show us since day 1...you are powerful beyond your brain can think...if you are willing to believe there shall be NOTHING that is impossible for you!

So know whatb you are reading! Understand that the Bible is not written directly to you but is most assuredly written for you! Read it in context and get Revelation for your life.
